World Cup predictions

Ok so now that we’re to the quarterfinals, here are my predictions:

Germany v Argentina. I have to vote for Germany. Argentina has played well and I’d love to see them advance, but Germany has looked too strong in their past few games. Plus, Germany have the home field advantage. Look at how the home field has favored people in the past few WC’s: Korea went far further last time than this time, France won on their own soil in ’98 … you just can’t beat Germany at home right now.

Italy v Ukraine. I have a strong dislike for Italy. Their ability to dive on the field earned them a win over Australia in the last round and as much as I want Ukraine to win, I think their acting ability will continue to sway the poor refereeing this round. Italy advances.

England v Portugal. Portugal all the way. England’s only squeaked by their last few matches and Portugal proved during their match against the Dutch that they can battle for a win. Portugal takes this one after a rough match.

Brazil v France. Hahahaha. Brazil all the way. Silly Frenchmen.

Semi-final predictions?
Germany over Italy
Brazil over Portugal

Finals?
Brazil over Germany damnit. I hate the fact that Brazil will get their 6th title, but they will. Bastards.

Congratulations to Italy for their fine win in a great Cup. It\’s been a fun month of games. Shame on Zidane for his deplorable behavior.

Thanks to all my friends who stopped by to watch various games along the way. It felt like one non-stop party! I can\’t wait for the Euro Cup and the Women\’s World Cup, both coming up in the next 2 years or so!
